Every morning I wake up and wonder what whirlwind is going to try to blow me off course. Then I remember my whirlwind is sleeping right next to me! Everything is sucked into his funnel cloud once he wakes up. I follow straightening up the mess left behind. This is why I am a good project manager, or is it that being a good project manager makes me a good mate for my husband? Either way this is why I am here.
The human side of PM is where I live. Instead of analyzing reports I am analyzing people. Managing a good team and keeping your client happy is more than a good project plan.
My years of experience has shown me that a successful project comes from your team and the relationship you establish. Projects fail due to lack of communication. That is the human side of PM. When communication breaks down, and it will, you must be ready to jump in. If you don’t that funnel cloud will leave with your project!
I completely agree on the human side of PM and the key element of communication. I try to stress the same in my articles at PM Tips. I think we probably have a lot in common in our approach.

My wife must be a co PM on the same project because she complains about the same whirlwind! Of course she has her four children: son, daughter, husband (me), and dog. She sometimes says I double as the dog.
I totally agree with the funnel cloud, and communication aspects in all parts of life!
